Individual Addiction Counselling

You are the agent of change, but you don’t have to do it alone. Our structured program gives you the practical tools and support you need to achieve abstinence and rebuild what addiction has broken.

IAC: Individual Addiction Counselling

Understanding the Goal Addiction is a disease that affects you physically, mentally, and spiritually, making it very difficult to overcome alone. The primary goal of the Individual Addiction Counselling (IAC) program is to assist you in achieving and maintaining abstinence from drugs and alcohol. Beyond abstinence, the program focuses on helping you recover from the damage addiction has caused, recognizing the thinking patterns behind the behavior, and developing the necessary skills to maintain long-term recovery.

Professional Guidance (CCAC) Your Canadian Certified Addiction Counsellor (CCAC) will provide you with the coping strategies, tools, and expert guidance needed to succeed. While you are the effective “agent of change” responsible for your own recovery, your counsellor ensures you do not have to walk this path alone. With the right help and evidence-based support, addiction can be successfully treated.

Frequency & Duration of Treatment The program is designed to provide structured support through a specific series of sessions.

  • Structure: 10 sessions total.

  • Session Length: Approximately 50 minutes.

  • Homework: Assigned between sessions to reinforce skills.

  • Requirement: You must be sober at all sessions to participate.

Program Completion Upon successful completion of the program, a Certificate of completion will be issued along with a descriptive letter confirming your participation and progress. (Many clients choose to continue their counselling beyond the required sessions to further strengthen their recovery).

How We Create Change

Change starts with being honest with yourself. We help you identify the ‘dysfunctional thought patterns’ and justifications that keep you stuck, empowering you to accept responsibility for your actions without shame.

Recovery happens between sessions. We use evidence-based Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) principles to give you concrete tasks, like ‘Time Outs’ and empathy exercises, to practice in your daily life.

Whether it’s substance use or impulsive reactions, we work to interrupt the cycle. You will learn to spot the early warning signs of emotional loss of control and choose a safer, healthier response.

Addiction and conflict damage relationships. We focus on empathy development and consistent, safe behavior to help you repair the past and build a future where you and your loved ones feel secure.
