Anger Management & Addiction Counselling

Break the cycle where substance use and anger meet. Led by a dually certified specialist (CAMS-II & CCAC), this program treats both issues simultaneously, helping you achieve abstinence and gain the emotional control needed to rebuild your life.

AM-AC: Anger Management & Addiction Counselling Program

Addiction and anger are often intertwined, creating a cycle where poor decision-making and intoxication lead to uncontrolled emotions. The primary goal of the AMAC program is to assist you in achieving and maintaining abstinence while learning specific coping techniques to regulate your emotions. The focus is on breaking the cycle of harm to build a life where you are in control of both your substance use and your reactions.

Professional Guidance (CAMS-II & CCAC) Your counsellor is dually certified as a Certified Anger Management Specialist, Level II (CAMS-II) and a Canadian Certified Addiction Counsellor (CCAC). They will guide you through the complex work of treating both issues simultaneously using evidence-based and clinically proven practices.

Note: Because intoxication impairs cognitive functioning and emotional control, this program requires a professional highly trained in both areas. You are the agent of change; your counsellor acts as a specialized guide to help you become your authentic self.

Frequency & Duration of Treatment The program is structured around a specialized Anger Management and Addiction workbook.

  • Structure: 10 to 12 sessions total.

  • Session Length: Approximately 50 minutes.

  • Frequency: Once to twice weekly.

  • Homework: Assigned between sessions to reinforce skills.

  • Requirement: You must be sober at all sessions.

Program Completion Upon successful completion of the program, a Certificate of Completion will be issued along with a descriptive letter confirming your participation and progress.

How We Create Change

Change starts with being honest with yourself. We help you identify the ‘dysfunctional thought patterns’ and justifications that keep you stuck, empowering you to accept responsibility for your actions without shame.

Recovery happens between sessions. We use evidence-based Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) principles to give you concrete tasks, like ‘Time Outs’ and empathy exercises, to practice in your daily life.

Whether it’s substance use or impulsive reactions, we work to interrupt the cycle. You will learn to spot the early warning signs of emotional loss of control and choose a safer, healthier response.

Addiction and conflict damage relationships. We focus on empathy development and consistent, safe behavior to help you repair the past and build a future where you and your loved ones feel secure.
