Domestic Violence Offender Program

A specialized program (often called PARS) designed to help you accept responsibility and alter the thought patterns behind domestic violence. Learn concrete tools for emotional control, empathy, and partner safety in a judgment-free space.

DVO: Domestic Violence Offender Program

Understanding the Goal The primary focus of the DVOC program (also known as PARS) is to help you become accountable and accept responsibility for your actions. The goal is not just to stop specific behaviors, such as physical violence, threats, or impulsive reactions, but to fundamentally alter the dysfunctional thought patterns that support them. By learning immediate tools like “Time Outs” and long-term empathy development, this program supports partner safety and helps you build a relationship based on respect and value for both your partner and yourself.

Professional Guidance & Inclusivity Working with a Certified Domestic Violence Specialist, you will engage in evidence-based sessions rooted in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which currently shows the best success rates for long-term behavioral change.

Note: Domestic violence is not limited to any one demographic. This program is inclusive and recognizes that domestic violence occurs across all genders and within the 2LGBTQ+ community.

Frequency & Duration of Treatment You will work through a 20-module Domestic Violence Offender workbook approved by the National Anger Management Association (NAMA).

  • Structure: Approximately 12 sessions total (covering 2 lessons per session).

  • Session Length: 50 minutes.

  • Homework: Assignments between sessions are required to help you practice new ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving in real-life situations.

  • Pacing: Duration depends on the work and effort you put into the program.

Program Completion Upon successful completion of the program, a Certificate of Completion will be issued along with a descriptive letter confirming your attendance, participation, and progress.

How We Create Change

Change starts with being honest with yourself. We help you identify the ‘dysfunctional thought patterns’ and justifications that keep you stuck, empowering you to accept responsibility for your actions without shame.

Recovery happens between sessions. We use evidence-based Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) principles to give you concrete tasks, like ‘Time Outs’ and empathy exercises, to practice in your daily life.

Whether it’s substance use or impulsive reactions, we work to interrupt the cycle. You will learn to spot the early warning signs of emotional loss of control and choose a safer, healthier response.

Addiction and conflict damage relationships. We focus on empathy development and consistent, safe behavior to help you repair the past and build a future where you and your loved ones feel secure.
